Dr. Fiona Lovely is a longevity, health and wellness expert with specialties in menopause medicine, functional neurology and functional medicine. She is speaking to the topics of women's health around perimenopause and menopause.
February is Women's Heart Health month and for today's episode, I am joined by the extraordinary Dr. Jayne Morgan, Cardiologist and VP of Medical Affairs at Hello Heart. Heart health for women is a hot topic and Dr. Morgan and I speak about the importance of women being aware of their heart heath throughout life but particularily at menopause.
Listen in and learn how your pregnancy experience can predict future heart concerns. Dr. Morgan also tells us exactly how to ask our doctor for necessary tests to keep our heart health in mind.
Estrogen affects cardiovascular health and how perimenopause is a time of great change for our heart. We discuss how a heart attack presents for women (hint: it's different from the classic presentation that men can experience!) and what symptoms you shouldn't ignore. These are common symptoms that might make you wonder if you, too, should ask your doctor to check out your heart!
You can find more from Dr Jayne Morgan and see her Stairwell Chronicles on IG here. Go to helloheart.com for more info on Dr Morgan and her work.

What does it take to optimize health at perimenopause and menopause? Dr. Scott Sherr is here to help us sort through the details of making the second half of your life, the best half! Let's prioritize wellness above all else.
The root cause of health is quite simple: it's all the things you think it should be - food, movement, sleep, relationships, etc. And it's paying attention to your metabolic and mitochondrial health. We might here these words thrown around but do we really know what to do to help ourselves?
Dr Scott Sherr suggests we can set the disease aside and optimize our health measures.
We talk about methylene blue for our mitochondria (think: brain fog, low energy, sleep issues, sluggish detox and more) and I am all in on this health-hack (check out Troscriptions link below for where I get my methylene blue), and I bet you will be too! Scott suggests we act as a bridge between medicine and alternative medicine, opening up the information access for all.

Today’s conversation is with Mary Lee - Menopause Doula and Licensed Menopause Champion. Mary is the host and creator of the Menopause Disruptor podcast. Mary is a retired veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces having served more than 24 years.
Mary arrives for our chat today ready to share the phenomenon of PTSD and menopause. This isn’t just for women veterans, but for all of us. And yet, the data shows us that women in uniform are particularily susceptible to the experience of PTSD. Female military personnel are twice as likely to experience early menopause! And many of the symptoms of PTSD and perimenopause overlap. What is a girl in uniform to do to get help?
This conversation is for you if you have experienced an abuse of power, experienced a trauma or if you are wanting to understand if the anxiety, sleeplessness, lack of contentment and other symptoms which are related to PTSD.
Mary and I speak about her process to becoming a Menopause Doula. I host this certification to my community on demand and will be opening the course in the Spring. If you are interested in being notified when my Menopause Doula Certification course opens, please visit here.

A critically important issue on the show today - women’s rights in the workplace especially in our menopause transition years. Many symptoms can derail our best efforts at work when we are perimenopausal, and often we can find ourselves not at our best. But what protections do we have?
Today, I speak with Jack Tucker and Catherine Crider - women’s rights in the workplace attorneys and women’s rights advocates. Did you know 20% of the workforce in America is between 40-65? You aren't alone if you feel unable to complete your job in the same way you always have! Asking for accommodations can feel hard, but might be easier than you think.
Listen in to learn where and how to advocate for yourself, and where your protections may lie. Catherine and Jack shares tips on how to ask for accommodations at work for those menopause symptoms. Don't quit, they say. You can demand fair treatment and equality in the workplace.
You can find out more about Jack and Catherine’s work here - womensrightsny.com.

Today, we bring you the expert on the benefits of the popular weight loss drugs for obesity, Dr Tyna Moore. The GLP1 agonists (as these medications are called), have vast benefits as the research is showing, beyond the loss of weight and regulation of blood sugars. Dr. Tyna is here to spill the tea on this! Allow us to introduce Dr. Tyna Moore; expert in holistic regenerative medicine and resilient metabolic health, licensed Naturopathic Physician and Chiropractor, and welcome her to the show!
Could it be that the GLP1 drugs should be included in the longevity conversation? The scientific data certainly suggests it and we speak about this in this episode. We also talk about losing inflammation, regenerating cells in the brain, heart, kidney and gut. And stregnth training for women and the importance of keeping yourself strong to prevent the frailty of aging which results in broken bones, loss of mobility and even mortality.
Dr Tyna shares her experience and expertise as a pain management and regenerative medicine specialist. She talks about the importance of individualized dosing for the weight loss/diabetes medications - she is a pioneer in elegant prescribing and regeneration. What a pleasure to have such a trailblazer with us today for this conversation!
There is so much helpful info in this episode! Prepare to take notes, we certainly did. 😊
