Many of us have heard that magnesium is important for our health, but have we heard why? Dr. Greg Kelly returns to the show in this episode to discuss the powerhouse of magnesium. Turns out, you cannot go wrong by adding magnesium to your supplements! More than 50% of us are deficient and the kind of magnesium you want to supplement with, can be confusing. Not all magnesium is the same and the bioavailability makes a huge difference.
We discuss the role of magnesium in aging hallmarks, in energy production, in brain health and menstrual health too. Magnesium protects us from the effects of chronic stress too.
Dr. Kelly and I also discuss the role of Akkermansia in the microbiome of people who have smaller bodies and whether therapy with it can help solve the conundrum of weight for some of us. This is an exciting development!
Greg also shares the updates to cellular senescence - cellular aging, the right cutting edge of anti-aging medicine. We talk about muscle stem cells and more. As always, Dr. Kelly brings the science to the people, and we are better for it!

When Susie Stonefield emailed us and said "I make people cry with art supplies" we knew we had to follow up and ask questions! Susie is a Creativity and Grief Coach, and teaches us how to art journal; using art supplies to help us express the feelings we cannot necessarily put words to. Something she calls "the wordless heart". Susie gives us permission to kindness, to compassion and to treat ourselves gently.
Grief is an obstruction, Susie teaches us. And it prevents us from finding balance, and experiencing the lovely parts of life often. We shared our own experiences in this conversation - grief, midlife, holding on tight to keep the wheels on the bus, like so many of you. I know you will find yourself and sweet relief in this beautiful conversation, just like I did.
Susie created a gorgeous workbook for us, I loved playing with the exercises within. π©· You can download that workbook right here.

Today I am joined by Caroline Alan, Mineral Enthusiast and passionate advocate for healthy humans! Caroline brings her excitement and deep knowledge of cellular function and the fuel required to feel good to the show. We talk about minerals, mitochondria, chronic health issues, and much more. And specifically, how women get mineral depleted and how we can rectify this.
If you have ever wanted to know what all the fuss was about glyphosate, Caroline breaks it down in a way that will leave you shocked and wondering how something like this can be approved for mass market.
Our bodies don't make minerals, so we have to consume them via our diet. But can we actually absorb them if our gut health isn't great? On top of that, our food often arrives to our table depleted itself! How do we correct all of this? Listen in as Caroline tells all.
You can find out more about Caroline Alan on the BEAM website. and on Instagram @themineralgeek. (Use the code LOVELY at checkout for 20% off your order! ππ)
